Free Initial Visit
At your first visit to our office, Dr. Forwood or Dr. Christie will perform a through examination of your teeth and your bite. Treatment options will be discussed and your questions will be answered. At this time we will recommend a course of action, and we will decide when and how it should be implemented. There is no charge for this initial consultation. However there will be a charge if any diagnostic records are taken such as X-rays, study models or photographs.
Service on Time
We know that your time is valuable, and we respect that. We do our best each day to keep on schedule, so that your office wait, if any, is minimal. You will receive a personalized appointment-reminder telephone call to help you remember the day and time of your next appointment.
Convenient Office Hours
We offer convenient office hours from Monday to Saturday, including a limited number of early-morning and evening appointments.
Two Locations To Serve You
The Chesley office is located on the Chesley Office Campus on Baltimore Pike, halfway between the Blue Route (Route 476) and Route 252 in Media. It is less than a mile from Exit 3 (Swarthmore/Media) on the Blue Route. Our office is accessible for special needs.
The Wallingford Office (Spencer House) is located on the grounds of the Strath Haven High School and Middle School Campus. Students attending either of these schools can walk to the office without "leaving school".
Only the Orthodontist Places the Braces
Since the precise placement of the braces on the teeth is one of the most important parts of the treatment process, it should be performed exclusively by your orthodontist. The orthodontist is the one most familiar with the tooth anatomy and the relationship of the teeth to the braces. When braces are precisely positioned on the teeth, the teeth become better aligned in a shorter period of time. The braces serve as handles that direct the teeth in all dimensions. In our office, this important aspect of your treatment is NOT delegated to a dental assistant.
Partners in Success
The success of orthodontic therapy, to a great degree, is reliant on patient cooperation. Dr Forwood, Dr Christie, and their staff attend numerous continuing education courses each year to maintain their knowledge in contemporary orthodontic therapy. We spend considerable time with our patients explaining the role that they must take in their treatment so that they can achieve a great result. Over the years, we've found that this partnership approach works best. Orthodontic treatment is a participation sport, and your doctor, our staff and you are on the same team!
University Affiliation
Dr. Forwood was a full-time faculty member and clinical director of orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania from 1980 to 1984. He has taught orthodontics there as an assistant clinical professor since 1980. Dr. Forwood recently received an award for 25 years of loyal service to the University. His commitment to continuing education allows him to provide his patients with state-of-the-art techniques and cutting-edge technological advancements.
Stability
You will receive treatment in a stable practice. Your safety is our highest priority. We comply with all of the current federal, state and local guidelines (including those set forth by the American Dental Association). We protect your privacy and are HIPAA compliant.
In addition, Dr. Forwood has been a longtime staple in the community, and we have a great staff that is experienced in all facets of orthodontic therapy and patient care. We have enjoyed very little turn over, which means that they function as a team. Because we get to know each of our patients on an individual basis, we have a great deal of respect for their needs.
Dr. Christie grew up in Wallingford and attended local schools from pre kindergarten to twelfth grade. She attended Lehigh University for her undergraduate studies and The University of Pennsylvania for Dental School and her Orthodontic training. She is married and plans to stay in this area to raise her family.
